Sister to Johannes Vermeer the star foal at the November Sale
New format will see the auction split into two parts
A trio of foals by Coolmore's perennial champion sire Galileo are among the standouts in a bumper 1,110-lot catalogue for the Goffs November Sale, that begins on November 20.
All three foals will be offered by Bill Dwan's Castlebridge Consignment, and they include a sister to Group 1 hero Johannes Vermeer and Group 2 scorer Elizabeth Browning (Lot 541). The filly's page could be boosted even further on Saturday, with her older brother Johannes Vermeer set to contest the Caulfield Cup.
Dual Australian Group 1 winner Melito is the dam of a Galileo colt (569), while another southern hemisphere mare in the shape of multiple Group winner Fix has a filly by the son of Sadler's Wells set to go under the hammer (732).
A number of sires will have their first crop of foals go through the ring, notably Yeomanstown Stud's Gutaifan, a son of the ever-popular Dark Angel, who is set to be represented by 44 sons and daughters.
This year the foal sale has been split into two parts, with part one of the sale taking place across three days from November 20. Part two will take place on November 25 and 26, with the two days beforehand set aside for the breeding stock sale to take place.
Goffs group chief executive Henry Beeby said: "Goffs November Sale is a sale that goes from strength to strength each year, with the last three renewals providing the top-priced foals in Europe, and to be the only sale in the world to offer Galileo foals is a wonderful endorsement of the quality associated with the November Sale.
"We have received incredible support from Irish breeders once again which has resulted in a catalogue of great strength and depth packed with potential at every level, be it for end users or those looking to buy to re-sell.
"Reacting to client feedback from both vendors and purchasers the format was revised to allow maximum inspection time for the premier foals and we believe those selling later in the week will also benefit from the knock on effect of being viewed during the sale."
