Siblings to Group 1 winners add allure to Book 2 and 3 yearlings
Al Wukair, Brando and Shakeel all have relations destined for Newmarket
A constant flow of Group 1 action in France over the past few weeks has seen three yearlings - of the 804 set to be offered at Book 2 at Tattersalls in October - receive significant updates in advance of the sale.
James Hanly's Ballyhimikin Stud in County Tipperary offers an Oasis Dream half-brother to Shakeel, who held on gamely by a nose from Permian in the Grand Prix de Paris at Saint-Cloud in mid-July. The pair are out of the unraced Medicean mare Shamiyra, a granddaughter of the 1993 Prix de Diane scorer Shamaka.
Car Colston Hall Stud will return to Book 2 with a Cape Cross half-brother to Brando, who they sold for 52,000gns at this sale in 2013.
Brando landed his first top-flight win with a commanding performance in the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville earlier this month, having finished third to Harry Angel in the July Cup and to The Tin Man in last year's British Champions Sprint.
Ballylinch Stud, meanwhile, will offer a Charm Spirit half-sister to Al Wukair, who claimed victory on the line in the Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville on Sunday. Al Shaqab Racing had to write out a cheque for 200,000gns to secure him at Book 2 in 2015.
Book 2 will take place on October 9-11, while Book 3 has 662 lots catalogued and will take place on October 12-14.
Book 3 of the 2017 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale will take place over three days this year, starting on Thursday, October 12, and concluding before Newmarket's Future Champions Day on Saturday, October 14.
All Book 3 yearlings will be eligible for the Tattersalls October Auction Stakes.
Edmond Mahony, chairman of Tattersalls, said: "The outstanding quality of the catalogues for Books 2 and 3 of the October Yearling Sale reflects the unprecedented demand for places.
"As ever, buyers will find quality and diversity in abundance.
"The combination of greater numbers and racing at Newmarket on Friday, October 13 has meant that Book 3 will be extended into the morning before Newmarket's Future Champions Day."
