Piroplasmosis to be introduced at yearling auctions later this year

Yearling sales taking place in Ireland later this year will allow purchasers to test lots for piroplasmosis for the first time.

This facility has previously been available in Britain, and after discussion between Goffs, Tattersalls Ireland, the ITBA and the Department of Agriculture the decision was taken to introduce the test at Irish sales grounds.

This should allow purchasers to buy with added confidence, particularly those from overseas and whose objective is a secondary sale at a later stage.
