Pair of Deep Impact colt foals top second day of JRHA Select Sale
Figures for the two-day sale posted record numbers for the fourth consecutive year
Surging into record territory for the fourth consecutive year, the two-day Japan Racing Horse Association Select Sale concluded on Tuesday with new highs for turnover, average price and for number of seven-figure horses, as well as a robust contingent of 19 international buyers.
Teruya Yoshida, acting JRHA chairman, said the results show that Japanese-bred horses have established their global credentials by winning Group 1 races in Europe and Dubai, and as a result, breeders from many countries are pursuing Japanese bloodlines.
"Breeders all over the world are looking for outside blood for future stallions, so I think they have to come to Japan to buy stallion prospects. Otherwise in Europe, they maybe have too many Galileos," a jovial Yoshida said with a laugh after the final hammer had fallen at Northern Horse Park in Hokkaido.
