Figures fall during low-key second session of expanded Part II sale

Trade was on the quiet side during the second session of Part II of the Tattersalls Ireland September Sale, besides a ten-minute spell before lunchtime in which the day's two priciest lots went through the ring.

John Hussey almost gave up as the price crept higher for a daughter of Acclamation out of Sister Red, but he thought better of it and was rewarded for his perseverance when securing the Cooneen Stud-consigned filly at €46,000.

"I had to spend more than I planned but she had an awful lot going for her and I thought she was the nicest filly in this part of the sale. She is one for the breeze-ups," Hussey said of the filly, who descends from a Cheveley Park family.
