Elliott has the final say on son of Kayf Tara
August National Hunt Sale concludes with better trade on Tuesday
A better day's trade during the second and concluding session of the Tattersalls Ireland August National Hunt Sale produced the week's standout lot, a €75,000 son of Kayf Tara.
After getting off to a decidedly subdued beginning on Tuesday, the sale picked up on Wednesday and this was amply illustrated by the top lot, who was showing a good return on the €26,000 he cost as a foal at the Goffs December National Hunt Sale. From Ballincurrig House Stud, the gelding had missed his intended date at the Land Rover Sale two months ago but he was well worth waiting for.
Bidding for him opened at €20,000 and Tom Malone, Aiden Murphy and owner Trevor Hemmings were all doing battle for the relation to the French Group 3 winner Top Shade. However, they all had to give best when trainer Gordon Elliott brought the price to €75,000.
