The first day of the Goffs Sportsman's Sale on Thursday was a low-key affair and it took a long time for a soprano to emerge and hit the higher keys. The opening session of the newly-expanded sale did not breach the six-figure barrier and was two-thirds of the way through before it found a leading lady.

Joe Foley of Ballyhane Stud purchased a daughter of his stallion Dandy Man, for €90,000. The filly is the first foal out of a placed-daughter of Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Rosinka.

"I have enormous belief in the sire who is on a major upward curve at the moment and selling very well. This filly is a beautiful example of what Dandy Man can do," Foley said.

"She is absolutely gorgeous, one of the nicest fillies here and I am delighted to get her. She is from a great breeder in Mary Davison who has bred some good horses.
