Ask The Tycoon catches the eye ahead of Ascot July Sale

The winner of the final four-year-old maiden of the 2016-17 Irish point-to-point season is among the 200 lots catalogued for the Tattersalls Ireland Ascot July Sale, which commences at the sales complex opposite the racecourse at 10.30am on Tuesday.

Ask The Tycoon, who won the geldings maiden at Ballingarry on June 5 by two and a half lengths, will be offered by his handler Denis Hogan's Boherna Stables.

He is by the Prix Royal-Oak and Coronation Cup winner Ask, whose oldest crop are now five.

Of the Flat offerings due to come under the hammer, John Gosden's Keswick looks sure to have his share of admirers. The three-year-old son of Dansili broke his maiden on his second start at Lingfield over 1m2f in January, and is a brother to the Listed winner Martlet.

The sale will include a select session of Flat and National Hunt form horses, point-to-pointers and stores, with drafts being offered by the likes of Godolphin, Joseph O'Brien's Carriganog Racing, Tim Easterby's Habton Grange Stables and Donnchadh Doyle's Monbeg Stables.

Last year’s July Sale saw 24 lots selling for £20,000 or more, contributing to a record turnover for the sale and an average of £9,512.
