Zelzal on the money as Blushing impresses on debut at Le Mans
The son of Sea The Stars stands at Al Shaqab's Haras de Bouquetot
Haras de Bouquetot's Zelzal became the latest first-season sire to get off the mark when Blushing readily struck on her debut at Le Mans on Monday afternoon.
The Ludovic Gadbin-trained juvenile filly, an Arqana graduate, returned a four-length winner of the Prix Mont Blanc over five and a half furlongs.
She is out of the Sadler's Wells mare Sudarynya, a half-sister to Breeders' Futurity winner Consolidator.
Zelzal is a son of Sea The Stars who was bred by Viktor Timoshenko and was a €180,000 purchase from Quesnay at the 2014 Arqana Deauville October Yearling Sale.
He was unraced at two but struck in the Prix Jean Prat and Prix Paul de Moussac before finishing third to Vadamos in the Prix du Moulin.
Retired after his four-year-old campaign, Zelzal now stands for a fee of €6,000 and has 57 first-crop juveniles to represent him this term.
The eight-year-old is the second foal out of the winning Kingmambo mare Olga Prekrasa and a half-brother to Prix Chloe scorer Ibiza, a daughter of the great Redoute's Choice.
Olga Prekrasa is herself out of the Sadler's Wells mare Opera Aida, a daughter of State Crystal, winner of the Lancashire Oaks and third in the Yorkshire Oaks and Prix Vermeille for Sir Henry Cecil.
