WinStar's Super Saver and Daredevil set to relocate to Turkey
WinStar Farm stallions Daredevil and Super Saver have been acquired by the Turkish Jockey Club and will relocate to Turkey, pending export requirements, WinStar announced on Wednesday.
A provision in the agreement allows for the stallions to return to the United States upon completion of their stud careers.
"The Turkish Jockey Club has done extremely well with Victory Gallop, who is the leading sire in Turkey, and has made a concerted effort to improve their stallion roster this year through the purchase of Bodemeister, Trappe Shot, Super Saver and Daredevil, among others," said Elliott Walden, president, CEO, and racing manager of WinStar Farm. "We look forward to following their careers in Turkey."
Super Saver, a 12-year-old by Maria's Mon out of the AP Indy mare Supercharger, captured the 2010 Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs and as a juvenile won the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes at the Louisville track. A homebred for WinStar, he banked more than $1.8 million in earnings.
Super Saver is the sire of 22 black-type winners to date, including three Grade 1 winners - champion sprinter Runhappy, Competiive Edge and Embellish the Lace. Six of his offspring have won stakes in 2019, topped by Grade 3 Southwest Stakes winner Super Steed.
Daredevil, a seven-year-old son of More Than Ready out of Chasethewildwind, by Forty Niner, won the 2014 Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park following a romping maiden special weight victory in his career debut.
His first crop hit the racetrack in 2019 and includes multiple stakes winner Deviant, Grade 2-placed Shedaresthedevil, and stakes-placed Jewel of Arabia. He has sired 10 winners so far this year.
