GBRI, in association with Tattersalls Cheltenham, went to visit Lawney and Joe Hill in Oxfordshire to find out more about their yard, ahead of the January Sale this Saturday and to discuss the company's valued sponsorship in the point-to-point sector.

In the video below, Joe - Lawney's son - talks about the development of the amateur sport in becoming more commercial-oriented in the past few years in Britain, as evidenced by hotter competition in four- and five-year-old maidens, while emphasising that "there is still a place for everyone."

Joe Hill adds that the hope for operations such as his family's, along with the likes of Gina and Tom Ellis and Fran and Charlie Poste, among others, is that good point-to-points like those sponsored by Tattersalls help in producing horses good enough to grace the sales at Cheltenham, as well as the major races and meetings at Prestbury Park, Stratford and elsewhere.

Lawney Hill, meanwhile, talks viewers through the yard and her family's background, while also chatting about the improvement in facilities at Woodway Farm over the years, for example the varied gallops and schooling facilities and how they suit the preparation of younger and older horses alike for the races.
