Updates aplenty with siblings to Sandrine and Dubai Honour up for grabs

Tattersalls Book 2 also features relatives to Wings Of War and Asymmetric

Although ostensibly a rung below the level of Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, this week's Book 2 has a rich history of showcasing future talent, with Addeybb, Ebro River, Lady Bowthorpe, State Of Rest, Subjectivist and Zaaki all making further entries on the top-level roll of honour this year, and most international buyers will stay on to scrutinise individuals including the eyecatching lots below.

Lot 577 Gr c Dark Angel-Futoon (consigned by Grangemore Stud)

Guy O'Callaghan's operation has had extraordinary returns from Futoon, a dual winner and high-performing Kodiac mare bought for 100,000gns, when making £140,000 from her first foal at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale 12 months ago.

He turned out to be Wings Of War, who won the Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury for Clive Cox only a few weeks ago.

Lot 757B c Cracksman-Mondelice (Taroka Stud)

Francois Drion's Kildare nursery brings three yearlings to this sale and there have not been many more exciting updates than with this one, particularly with his sire making an impression with his first crop offered last week.

Unraced mare Mondelice, a granddaughter of Damson, has produced six-figure sums from her first two foals in the ring headed by this month's Prix Dollar winner Dubai Honour, who seems ready for the highest company before 2021 is out.

Lot 768B/Gr f Galileo-Mrs Danvers (Manister House Stud)

Buyers have been repeating the mantra that there will not be too many more Galileos coming to market, and this one is enough of a rarity as his only representative in Book 2.

The filly is the result of the second of three visits to Coolmore's late superstar by Mrs Danvers, the rags-to-riches sprinter nurtured by Jonathan Portman who streaked through an unbeaten two-year-old season.

Lot 952 - B c Roaring Lion-Seychelloise (Staffordstown Stud)

Appetite for the sole crop of Roaring Lion has been solid if not spectacular, but among his 16 engaged here is one with real potential.

Offered by Kirsten Rausing through Staffordstown Stud, he is from one of the owner-breeder's cherished families as a half-brother to Sandrine, the Albany and Duchess of Cambridge winner and Cheveley Park third, as well as dual scorer Sea The Shells.

Lot 1036 - B c Gleneagles - Swirral Edge (Redpender Stud)

Redpender, a select Kilkenny operation run by Jimmy Murphy, has been linked with some very smart two-year-olds over the years, including Canford Cliffs and Toormore.

Its latest flagbearer has been Asymmetric, first sold for 65,000gns here last November and now the winner of the Richmond Stakes, while the recent uptick in the fortunes of Gleneagles, sire of his half-brother, has certainly aided his prospects further.

Lot 1182 - Br c Adaay-Arcamist (Culworth Grounds)

But for a twist of fate this one could have a Group 1 half-brother on his CV as his sibling Dragon Symbol was touched off in agonising fashion in the Commonwealth Cup and placed in three other top sprints.

Just a few days after Dragon Symbol made a successful racecourse debut in March, Freddy Tylicki signed for his younger sibling for just €10,500 at Part 2 of the Goffs February Sale, a sum which looks quite a bargain now.

Book 2 runs from Monday to Wednesday this week, with sessions beginning at 10am each day, and you can read the catalogue here. Books 3 and 4 continue until Saturday.
