Two Grade-1 winning sons of Halfway To Heaven are set to line up against each other in the at Greyville on Saturday (4.20 local time/3.20 BST).

Leading South African trainer Mike de Kock will saddle the three-year-old Hawwaam, a Silvano colt who has already won the SA Classic, Daily News 2000 and The Premier's Champions Challenge in the colours of Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum.

Eric Sands will send out Hawwaam's year-older half-brother Rainbow Bridge, with champion jockey Gavin Lerena entrusted with the ride on the Ideal World gelding.

The pair were bred and raised by the Slack family's Wilgerbosdrift and Mauritzfontein Studs and later changed hands at public auction.

Hawwaam was purchased by Shadwell for R1 million (£56,900 / €63,400) at the 2017 Bloodstock South Africa National Yearling Sale, while Rainbow Bridge realised R300,000 in the same ring the previous year.

The South African-bred Halfway To Heaven, a daughter of Jet Master, is not to be confused with her European namesake, who is also the dam of two top-flight winners in Magical and Rhododendron.

The Irish-bred Halfway To Heaven won three Group 1 races including the Irish 1,000 Guineas and has been mated exclusively with Galileo since retiring to stud.

The Pivotal mare could also make her mark in South Africa through her Group 3-winning son Flying The Flag, who holds court at Bush Hill Stud and whose first juveniles will appear in the coming months.
