Thoroughbred Tales twitter account putting fans in touch with their idols
Rachael Blackmore and Politologue have responded to letter writers
The Thoroughbred Tales twitter account, which seeks to promote racing and breeding through a weekly roster of guest hosts from the industry, has started a new campaign to engage fans of all ages.
Through #MeetYourRacingHeroes people can tweet Thoroughbred Tales with a photo of their fan letter to a favourite horse, jockey or trainer, and those who run the account will do their best to get a written or video reply from the racing hero and post it on Twitter.
So far, jockey Rachael Blackmore, racehorses Monbeg Dude and Politologue and the Irish National Stud stallion Dragon Pulse have exchanged correspondence, in the horses' case with a little help from their human custodians.
Thoroughbred Tales' guest host this week has been Charlotte Turner, stud secretary at Elwick Stud in County Durham, who has illustrated how the show must go on in the care of thoroughbreds even in the face of the global coronavirus pandemic.
Guest hosts in the coming weeks include the cult racehorse Roy Rocket, who will provide a look behind the scenes of Newmarket, and Salcey Forest Stud, who will show how life goes on during the breeding season no matter what.
