For Toskana Belle's broodmare sire Teofilo, the weekend was a hugely significant one, especially through the success of Nations Pride in the Grade 1 Saratoga Derby on Saturday

Not only did the three-year-old become the 23rd top-level winner sired by Darley's Teofilo, but his victory ensured the Jim Bolger-bred and trained horse joined an elite club as one of only seven stallions to have a Group 1 winner in each of his first 11 northern hemisphere-bred crops.

The Kildangan Stud resident, who was European champion two-year-old of 2006, is the only living member of this extraordinary group, which includes his own sire Galileo and grandsire Sadler's Wells, as well as global luminaries A.P. Indy, Deep Impact, Mr. Prospector and Teofilo's former Kildangan studmate Shamardal.

Nations Pride is one of 11 individual stakes winners this year for Teofilo and represents a potent cross, as the unbeaten National and Dewhurst Stakes winner has now sired three individual Group 1 winners from just 16 runners out of mares by Oasis Dream. The other two are Melbourne Cup hero Twilight Payment and Tawkeel, successful in the Prix Saint-Alary.

This season has also been an outstanding one for the 18-year-old in the role of broodmare sire, with no fewer than three Group 1 Classic winners featuring Teofilo in that position.

Both British Guineas winners Coroebus and Cachet are out of Teofilo mares, while Sunday's Preis der Diana winner Toskana Belle has Teofilo as her broodmare sire through Tristane.

The Group 2 German 2,000 Guineas winner Maljoom and the Group 1 Prix d'Ispahan winner Dreamloper also have daughters of Teofilo as their dam.

Godolphin's unbeaten Listed Pat Eddery Stakes winner Naval Power could extend Teofilo's record by another crop, and the juvenile colt holds an entry in the Group 1 Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes at the Curragh on Irish Champions Weekend.
