Tattersalls renews £250,000 bonus scheme for Craven Sale
Tattersalls will offer its £250,000 Craven Royal Ascot/Group 1 Bonus for the second year running in addition to the existing £15,000 Craven Breeze Up Bonus scheme.
Owners of two-year-olds bought at the 2022 Craven Sale have the opportunity for some lucrative awards. A £125,000 windfall will go to the first graduate to win any of the six two-year-old races at this year’s Royal meeting, with £100,000 being paid to the owner and £25,000 to the vendor of the horse.
An additional £125,000 bonus, with the same split, will also be paid to the first horse from the sale to win any of the 15 European Group 1 races open to two-year-olds, including the all-age Nunthorpe and Prix de l’Abbaye.
European champion juvenile Native Trail won the inaugural £125,000 Tattersalls Craven Group 1 Bonus last year when taking the National Stakes at the Curragh, having been a 210,000gns purchase by Godolphin.
Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said: "The £250,000 Tattersalls Craven Royal Ascot/Group 1 Bonus reinforces our commitment to rewarding owners with multiple bonuses.
"The introduction of the bonus last year immediately captured the imagination of owners and trainers and we were delighted that Native Trail was able to collect [it] for Godolphin. The bonuses further enhance the appeal of a sale which annually produces a consistent flow of top class two-year-olds, with last year’s graduates also including Group 2 winners Asymmetric and Go Bears Go.
"Running alongside the ever-popular £15,000 Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Bonus, the multiple bonuses reward numerous owners and as Native Trail demonstrated, the prospect of an owner winning multiple Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Bonuses is very real."
The sale takes place between April 11 and 13, with all two-year-olds breezing on the morning of Monday April 11 on the watered gallop at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile.
