Tattersalls implements 'essential additional service' of live internet bidding
Thursday's breeze-up sale just the start as platform to be available in future
Tattersalls has launched live internet bidding for the forthcoming Craven and Ascot Breeze-Up Sale, which takes place in Newmarket on Thursday.
The platform will allow buyers to submit live bids via computer, tablet or mobile phone without having to be on site at the Tattersalls Park Paddocks sales grounds. It is envisaged that live internet bidding will be available for all Tattersalls sales in future.
Purchasers wishing to use the new service will need to register at least 48 hours prior to the start of the sale and will receive account verification from Tattersalls before the auction begins.
Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said: “The introduction of a new live internet bidding platform reflects our determination to make participation at all Tattersalls sales as easy as possible under the current trying circumstances.
"We first trialled live internet bidding back in 2008, but there is no doubt that the challenges posed by the global pandemic have made the technology an essential additional service for potential buyers who are unable to attend our sales.
"Starting with the Craven and Ascot Breeze-Up, live internet bidding will now be a regular feature of sales at Tattersalls and we are confident that it will be welcomed by buyers throughout the world."
