Striking debut success for Tasleet's two-year-old sister Lady Light
Michael Bell-trained Showcasing filly impresses at Yarmouth
Lady Light, an expensively bought sister to high-class sprinter Tasleet, looked a name for the future by delivering an impressive victory on debut in a six-furlong novice stakes at Yarmouth on Tuesday.
The Michael Bell-trained filly coped well with the heavy going to travel smoothly and make headway two furlongs from home to streak clear and record a four-and-a-half-length victory over the more experienced Vintage Polly (by Gutaifan).

“It was sticky ground but she made that look easy,” her pilot Hayley Turner told Sky Sports Racing after the contest. “She was very professional going to post and proved so in the race. She's a nice prospect for next year.”
Lady Light was bred by Whitsbury Manor Stud by sending the well-related Cadeaux Genereux mare Bird Key to its flagship stallion Showcasing, source of high-class sprinters such as Advertise, Quiet Reflection and Soldier's Call.
She is another useful performer from Showcasing's sixth crop of two-year-olds, conceived when the sire's covering fee rose from £15,000 to £25,000, joining the likes of Cheveley Park Stakes third Tropbeau and the Group 3-placed pair Endless Joy and Show Me Show Me.
Lady Light becomes the fourth winner for Bird Key, a half-sister to Champagne Stakes winner Etlaala and to the dam of the brilliantly fast Battaash, with the mare having already clicked with Showcasing to produce Tasleet.
A winner of the Duke of York Stakes and Greenham Stakes, and three times a runner-up in Group 1 sprint company, Tasleet embarked on his stallion career at Nunnery Stud in Norfolk this year, covering 107 mares in his debut book.
Lady Light represented a punchy pinhooking success for agent Mick Flanagan, who bought the filly for 220,000gns at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale and resold her through Baroda and Colbinstown Studs to Mark Player on behalf of the China Horse Club for €850,000 at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale.
