Speedy Fastnet Rock son Fas to stand at Haras de Saint Vincent
Group 3-winning sprinter a new addition to the French ranks
Fas will become the first son of Fastnet Rock to stand in France when he begins his stallion career at Haras de Saint-Vincent near Lourdes in the south west of the country next year.
The five-year-old is being introduced to breeders at a fee of €2,200 and will reportedly receive the support of his co-owners Alain Jathiere, Ballylinch Stud and Zalim Bifov.
Fas won a Deauville maiden on debut at two for Pia Brandt, and later took third in both the Prix Saraca and Prix Eclipse that season.
On his first two runs at three he scored in the Prix Ronde de Nuit and handed subsequent Poule d'Essai des Pouliches winner Precieuse a three and a half-length beating in the Prix Sigy.
He joined Eddie Lynam at four, when his best effort was a third in the Minstrel Stakes, and he rejoined Brandt this year, when he notched victories in conditions races at Le Lion d'Angers and Deauville.
Fas was bred by Bifov out of the Listed-placed Dutch Art mare Sotka, making him a half-brother to Group 3 winner Silva. The dam is a half-sister to champion sprinter Sole Power.
