Sottsass sibling among 338 inclusions in Arqana August Yearling Sale
Representatives of Galileo, Dubawi and Dark Angel will also be sold in Deauville
A half-brother to this year’s French Derby winner Sottsass is among the jewels to be offered at the upcoming Arqana August Yearling Sale.
The catalogue for the three-day spectacular in Deauville on the Normandy coast includes 338 youngsters hailing from virtually every stallion of repute, including Dark Angel, Dubawi, Frankel, Galileo, Kingman, American Pharoah, Kodiac, Lope De Vega, Sea The Stars and Siyouni.
Sottsass, who is by Siyouni, is a graduate of this sale two years ago and represents the extraordinary broodmare Starlet’s Sister, from the famed Ecurie des Monceaux.

The colt was bought by Peter Brant's White Birch Farm for €340,000 through Oceanic Bloodstock and is now regarded as one of the most exciting horses in Europe as he beat red-hot favourite Persian King to land the Classic in a record time.
His older siblings are Sistercharlie, who was second in the French Oaks and became a four-time Grade 1 winner once transferred to America, and My Sister Nat, who has succeeded at Group 3 level in France.
The yearling offering at Arqana will come in at lot 21 and is a son of Fastnet Rock.
The class of 2017 also includes Fleeting, who finished third in the Oaks and second in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot and whose half-sister by Olympic Glory is in the sale (54).
Other graduates were Roman Candle, Etoile and Big Brothers Pride, while those who have turned two following sales at last year’s event are already starting to be seen on the track. Arizona, a canny pinhook by Charlies Briere’s Fairway Consignment, earned Royal Ascot honours in last week’s Coventry Stakes.
There are nine Galileos up for grabs through the week and plenty of other regally bred eyecatchers.
Ballylinch Stud are offering a sister to Antonia De Vega (34), who was back on track lately in winning the Listed Abingdon Stakes, while another son of Lope De Vega with a lively page is lot 60, a sibling of the smart pair Lope Y Fernandez and Dark Vision, also offered by Monceaux.
Two more potentially valuable products from that same stud are from the immediate family of Chicquita and Magic Wand, with a Galileo colt (147) followed in by a Dubawi filly (148).
