Something for everyone as Tattersalls unveil 572 entries in July Sale catalogue
Dams of Ten Sovereigns and Watch Me have graduated from the mixed auction
Tattersalls have taken the wraps off the 572-lot July Sale catalogue, with the auction set to begin on Thursday, July 9, 24 hours after the Guineas Breeze Up Sale. The entries comprise 488 horses and fillies in- and out-of-training and 80 broodmares, four of whom have foals at foot.
The two-day event features consignments from powerful owner-breeder operations including Cheveley Park Stud, Godolphin, Juddmonte Farms, Shadwell Estates and The Royal Studs.
The July Sale has built a reputation as the place to find future blue-chip breeding stock at value prices. The dams of 13 Group 1 winners have been sourced at the July Sale since 2016, including the 65,000gns Seeking Solace, dam of Ten Sovereigns, the 32,000gns Queenofthefairies, who produced Fairyland, and Watchful, a 75,000gns daughter of Galileo who bred Watch Me.
Among the eyecatching breeding prospects on offer are Raasekha, a Listed-placed half-sister to Muhaarar in foal to Tamayuz, and the Group 3-winning Sense Of Joy, who is offered in foal to New Bay.
The form-horse section includes classy performers such as Craven Stakes runner-up Momkin, officially rated 106, and the Jim Bolger-trained pair of Geometrical and Agitare, who placed in the Group 2 Futurity Stakes and Golden Fleece Stakes respectively.
On the release of the July Sale catalogue, Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said: "The Tattersalls July Sale has been a remarkably consistent source of Group 1 producers and performers on the global stage and 2019 was an exceptional year with six individual Group 1 winners produced by graduates of the sale.
