Kildangan Stud resident Buratino secured a first black type victory as a stallion after a determined effort from his son Snapraeterea in the Listed Owenstown Stud Stakes at Naas.

John Farrell's homebred three-year-old is from the 84-strong first crop of Buratino and his highest-rated performer, having won two minor races in Ireland under Joseph O'Brien's care last term and finishing third in the Beresford Stakes and fourth in the futurity.

Fresh from a couple of pipe-openers, Snapraeterea held off the attentions of Lustown Baba in the seven-furlong Listed event.

Buratino has 16 individual winners worldwide, the son of Exceed And Excel earning his place at stud after winning the 2015 Coventry Stakes and finishing second in the Middle Park. He currently stands for €5,000.

Snapraeterea is from a family that Farrell has done well with and she is a half-sister to Snapraeceps, who was several times placed in Group races for the same connections.

Their Alamshar dam Snap Alam won five times in Farrell's green and blue silks.
