The first foal of St Leger and Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes winner Simple Verse is among the 1,125 lots to be offered at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale.

Consigned by Tweenhills and foaled on January 31, the Frankel colt will enter the ring as lot 1025 at the event which runs between November 27 and 30.

The catalogue features 147 foals by the current top 15 active British and Irish sires and well over 200 by the current top 20, including Acclamation, Camelot, Dark Angel, Dubawi, Invincible Spirit, Kingman, Kodiac, Lope De Vega, No Nay Never, Sea The Stars and Showcasing.

Another of note is Knocktoran Stud's Galileo (971), the only representative of the super-sire. Out of the Pivotal mare Zut Alors, he is a half-brother of the French Guineas winner Precieuse.

Plenty of first crop sires feature prominently, with a total of 25 represented including Classic and Group 1 winners Aclaim, Caravaggio, Churchill, Decorated Knight, Galileo Gold, Highland Reel, Jack Hobbs, Mondialiste, National Defense, Postponed, Profitable, Ribchester and Ulysses.

The largest consignment is the team of 43 foals coming from Paul and Sara Thorman’s Trickledown Stud, closely followed by the 39 to come from The National Stud and 35 from the Castlebridge Consignment. Locally based New England Stud, which topped the 2018 December Foal Sale with the Galileo own sister to Decorated Knight, has a team of 22 foals.

Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said: "The Tattersalls December Foal Sale is a prolific source of both Classic and Group 1 winners as well as spectacular pinhooking triumphs and we have some truly outstanding foals catalogued for this year’s sale.

"The Tattersalls December Foal Sale consistently attracts the cream of the British and Irish foal crop with the likes of Blue Point and Classic winners Magna Grecia, Phoenix Of Spain and Star Catcher all flying the flag at the highest level in 2019 and this year’s catalogue has the quality and diversity to appeal to buyers from throughout the world at all levels of the market.
