Victor Ludorum struck in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp on Sunday to become the third juvenile Group 1 winner for Shamardal this season, along with leading talents Earthlight and Pinatubo.

All three hail from the sire's first privately bred crop at Kildangan Stud in Ireland.

A Godolphin homebred, Victor Ludorum is a half-brother to the Irish Oaks third Mary Tudor, by Dawn Approach, and out of the Group-placed Antiquities, a daughter of Kaldounevees, who is also noted as the damsire of the ill-fated Melbourne Cup winner and sire Dunaden.

Antiquities also has a New Approach yearling colt and an Invincible Spirit filly foal.

Intriguingly, the winner is inbred 3x3 to the 1985 Irish Oaks heroine Helen Street through her daughters Helsinki, the dam of Shamardal, and Historian, the mother of Antiquities.

Victor Ludorum is one of three stakes winners inbred 3x3 to Helen Street along with Rockfel Stakes scorer and 1,000 Guineas runner-up Lucida and the French Listed winner Shamtee, both of whom are by Shamardal.

Lucida is out of the Street Cry mare Lura, while Shamtee is out of a daughter of Grecian Slipper, another of Helen Street's brood.
