After two days of Orby action, the Goffs Sportsman's Sale rounds out the week at Kildare Paddocks with a couple of sessions on Thursday and Friday.

The catalogue brought together a total of 524 commercial yearlings, with an emphasis on two-year-old types, all of which are eligible for the €100,000 Goffs Sportsman’s Challenge race over six furlongs at Naas next September.

Among those sold at last year's auction were Lady Hollywood, who has proved a star for the Alice Haynes yard, winning at Listed and Group 3 level, and Manhattan Jungle, who has produced similar service for Amy Murphy with three victories including a Listed contest, plus a second in a Group 3.

They were bought for €25,000 and €20,000 respectively at the 2021 Sportsman's, and the hunt will be on from 9.30am on Thursday to unearth similar jewels.

Standout lots on day one include LVB Bloodstock's El Kabeir half-sister to Sweet Solera Stakes winner Star Of Emaraaty (lot 549), Tinnakill House's Caravaggio half-sister to Prix Robert Papin winner Ventura Tormenta (599), and Railstown Stud's Starspangledbanner colt out of Cornwallis Stakes winner Ponty Acclaim (659).

Cold Case has done the Starspangledbanner colt's family's reputation no harm since the catalogue came out by finishing third in the Gimcrack and then winning the valuable sales race at the St Leger meeting.

The Castlebridge Consignment offers an Oasis Dream filly out of a winning full-sister to Lockinge Stakes scorer Creachadoir and half-sister to champion Youmzain (714), while another to catch the eye is Oghill House Stud's Belardo half-brother to last year's Queen Mary Stakes winner Quick Suzy (743).

Friday's highlights could include Peter Nolan's Zoffany half-brother to Prix Six Perfections winner Sydneyarms Chelsea (815) and Roundhill Stud's Blue Point half-brother to Group 2 winner Bow Creek (876).

The very next lot in the ring, Derrinstown Stud's Tamayuz colt out of Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Bethrah (877), is another who could be popular, along with The Castlebridge Consignment's Calyx colt (982) out of Blue Wind Stakes winner and Tattersalls Gold Cup third Euphrasia.
