Two-day event replaces the v.2 auction that followed the August Sale
The Arqana September Yearling Sale is a new date in the auction calendar this Thursday and Friday but is running as a replacement and extension of the former v.2 sale that traditionally followed the high-profile offerings at Deauville in August.
Among the former graduates of the former v.2 auction is Coeursamba, a daughter of The Wow Signal who won the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches last year after selling to Jean-Claude Rouget for €40,000 from Haras d'Haspel.
Other graduates who went on to black type success include Group 2 Prix du Gros-Chene scorer Pradaro, a son of Penny's Picnic who sold from Colleville in 2016 and Listed winner Gregolimo, also second in the Prix Hocquart and a private purchase from the auction in 2019 from Colleville.
There is an eclectic range of sires with yearlings for sale at this year's sale, ranging from first-season sires Sioux Nation, Harry Angel and Cloth Of Stars to established names such as Wootton Bassett, New Bay, Caravaggio, Showcasing and Dream Ahead.
Among them is a sole offering from Yeomanstown Stud's first-crop yearling sire Invincible Army in Haras de Saint Arnoult's filly (lot 249) out of a Danehill Dancer half-sister to Champagne Stakes winner and 2,000 Guineas second Vital Equine.
Other lots to catch the eye include Normandie Breeding's Ribchester filly (55) from the family of French 1,000 Guineas and Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf heroine Flotilla; Haras d'Etreham's Wootton Bassett half-brother (217) to Listed winners Bocaiuva and Beauty Of Love; Haras de Castillon's Shalaa filly (224) out of a Dansili full-sister to Grand Prix de Paris winner Zambezi Sun; and Saint Arnoult's Inns Of Court colt out of daughter of Prix Marcel Boussac winner Amonita (305).
Haras de Grandcamp's Lawman filly (13) was also the subject of a timely update as her Maxios half-sister, Yaxeni, added a second stakes win to her name in the Oyster Stakes at Galway on Tuesday evening.
The sale, which takes place from 2pm local time on both days, has 313 lots consigned before withdrawals.
