Saturday entries enter the spotlight ahead of Arqana Arc Sale
Saturday evening's Arqana Arc Sale does not quite have the headline attraction of the chance to buy a runner in one of the main events this time around but several individuals will have already put themselves in the spotlight by the time the auction gets under way at 6.30pm local time in Saint-Cloud.
Souzak has been engaged by trainer Jerome Reynier, with the juvenile having been bought by Nurlan Bizakov's Sumbe for €100,000 at last year's August Sale. The recent Lyon winner, by Kodiac, is set for a start in the Haras de Bouquetot - Criterium Arqana sales race on Saturday's Longchamp card.
Likewise, Mister Saint Paul, who will be more of an outsider in the Prix Daniel Wildenstein. The Leenders family-trained colt landed the Group 3 Prix la Force at the track in the spring.
It is likely that around 35 horses will be offered at the boutique event. They include the German Derby runner-up Schwarzer Peter, Listed winner Toimy Son, the Aga Khan's consistent Dilawar and Real Cecile, who struck at Chantilly on Thursday. Rocchigiani, who won at Goodwood this summer for his German connections, is another standout.
Penja, who did not eventually take up her entry in last year's Prix de l'Opera, topped last year's sale when knocked down for €1.2 million to Stuart Boman of Blandford Bloodstock.
