Sam Pritchard-Gordon joins Cornerstone Stud in South Australia
Former trainer appointed to role of bloodstock and nominations manager
Former trainer Sam Pritchard-Gordon is joining Cornerstone Stud in South Australia in the role of bloodstock and nominations manager.
Pritchard-Gordon, son of renowned British bloodstock agent Grant, moved to Australia in 2005 to work at Arrowfield Stud before moving to Gai Waterhouse Racing as bloodstock assistant.
He then spent five years as racing manager for Freedman Racing, which provided the launchpad to him taking out his own training licence in 2011.
“Owning your own business is not for the faint hearted and that certainly includes training horses,” said Pritchard-Gordon.
“There was always a healthy mixture of success and failure, sometimes on the same day. We learned lot about managing horses and a lot about ourselves.”
Pritchard-Gordon's responsibilities at Cornerstone Stud will include managing the bloodstock portfolios belonging to the operation and its key clients, as well as overseeing nomination sales and marketing activities.
“We consider Sam the perfect fit for our business. Candidates of his calibre only come along occasionally so we are fortunate that the timing was right in this instance,” said Cornerstone Stud managing director Sam Hayes.
“We're not a big business, but have big aspirations and you need a top team to bring those dreams to life.
"Sam will be a valuable asset for the business and our clients as we embark on the next chapter of that journey.”
Cornerstone Stud stands five stallions – local talents Ambidexter and Valentia plus the European imports Free Eagle, Sir Prancealot and Zebedee.
