Rosshill Farm adds Gin Sling to four-strong roster
Galway stud stands classy performer Gamut
Shamardal’s son Gin Sling will bolster the roster to four at Rosshill Farm in Galway as the new breeding season approaches.
Leading the way at a stud where Eamonn Hogan has been standing stallions since 2014 is Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud winner Gamut, sire of the likes of Grade 1 scorers Road To Riches and Road To Respect, whose fee has been trimmed to €2,000 this year, or €1,000 for a filly foal.
Group 1-placed Altruistic, a relative of Arcangues, Aquarelliste and Aizavoski, and whose first crop are now four, is being offered at €500 through his owner Dr Cyrus Poonawalla, while smart stayer Tau Ceti, who has had very few runners, is available for €700 live colt foal or €350 filly foal.
Gin Sling, who is a nine-year-old bred by Newsells Park Stud and a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Gitano Hernando, will stand for €200.
Hogan said: "Gin Sling was owned by former point-to-point rider Johnny Vance, who passed away last year, a gentleman and friend of mine. He was unraced due to injury and was breeding with jumping mares. He has bred some beautiful stock."
Hogan emphasises the stud’s need to help breeders on a certain budget, as he has been there himself.
"I have been breeding for over 20 years and the breeder is the person who never does the best financially and on some stock loses money - that’s why when standing our stallions here we have very good value in stud fees," he said.
"Our stallions are all from top dam lines and are as good as models as any sires in Ireland."
