Registrations open for visitors to the Irish Stallion Trail

Registrations are now open for the 2022 Irish Thoroughbred Marketing (ITM) Stallion Trail, which is scheduled to take place on 14 and 15 January.

More than 25 stud farms are set to take part in the free event which gives breeders, racing fans and industry professionals the opportunity to visit some of the world's leading thoroughbred breeding establishments and catch up with favourites from the track in their breeding careers.

Among the stars on show will be world champion and the Aga Khan Studs' leading sire Sea The Stars, the up-and-coming New Bay and Waldgeist alongside the excellent Lope De Vega at Ballylinch Stud, Cartier Horse of the Year St Mark's Basilica at Coolmore Stud and Breeders' Cup Mile hero Space Blues at Darley's Kildangan Stud.

All those wishing to participate can register online here and visitors can chose which studs to attend from the list of participating farms.

The trail was a virtual event last January due to the Covid-19 lockdown Ireland was in at the time. At the moment, the intention is to return the event, which is in its eighth year, to its original format, but both the format and the dates of the event may be subject to change due to the ongoing uncertainty created by the global pandemic.

ITM, under guidance from Horse Racing Ireland's health and safety business partner, has drawn up a code of conduct which is available on ITM's website.

All those who register for the Stallion Trail are requested to comply with the code; this includes the wearing of face masks, ensuring social distancing guidelines are adhered to at all times and the use of hand sanitiser. All visitors are asked to bring their own masks and sanitiser.
