Newbury's eight-race card on Friday is opened with two divisions of the R & M Electrical EBF Novice Stakes and, as is usually the case with the Berkshire track, there are plenty of newcomers for bloodstock fans to get their teeth into.

The opening contest (1.00) will see Richard Hannon and Julie Wood combine with Classic, a Newsells Park Stud-bred son of Dubawi and Date With Destiny, the sole offspring of the brilliant but ill-fated George Washington.

The colt, who sold to Peter and Ross Doyle for 260,000gns from Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, is therefore a half-brother to the Royal Whip Stakes winner Beautiful Morning among two winners for their dam.

Other notables in the seven-furlong race is the twice-raced Bresson, Juddmonte's son of Dubawi and the first foal out of Musidora Stakes winner and Prix de Diane fourth Shutter Speed, a daughter of Dansili who defeated a certain Enable in a conditions race at Newbury on her first start at three.

Godolphin is set to be represented by another son of Dubawi in the G Schoeningh-bred Lenormand, who sold from Fittocks Stud to the boys in blue for 600,000gns at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale in 2020.

Lenormand is out of the Listed-winning High Chaparral mare Baisse, making him a half-brother to Best Of Days, who had won the Royal Lodge Stakes for Hugo Palmer before heading to James Cummings in Australia and landing the Group 1 Kennedy Mile.

Sheikh Mohammed's operation will have another blue-blooded debutant in the second division (1.33) in the form of Silver Knott.

The son of Lope De Vega was bred by St Albans Bloodstock and is the first foal out of God Given, a Nathaniel half-sister to champion older horse Postponed and herself the winner of the Premio Lydia Tesio and Park Hill Stakes for Luca Cumani and St Albans. Her son was a 725,000gns purchase by Godolphin from Book 1.

Juddmonte's Childean, a son of Frankel and half-brother to Mill Reef Stakes winner Alkumait, makes his second start for Andrew Balding, while John and Thady Gosden saddle interesting newcomer Lisboa for the Coolmore partners.

The son of Galileo is out of the Group-placed Lawman mare Alphabet and hails from the family of Irish 2,000 Guineas scorer Power.

The following bet365 British EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes (2.08) sees Saeed bin Suroor saddle Tomouh Dubai, a daughter of Iffraaj from the family of Meow, the dam of dual Guineas hero and Classic-winning sire Churchill and Cheveley Park Stakes winner Clemmie.
