Quartile analysis reveals market realities at the Arqana August Sale
European yearling auction circuit curtain raiser saw record results
Results from last week's curtain raiser to the European yearling auction circuit, the Arqana August Sale, appeared to be remarkably positive for vendors, and detailed analysis of the figures reveals just how strong the market was.
The conventional sales statistics painted a particularly rosy picture, as new high marks were achieved in turnover (€42,869,000, an increase of 17 per cent year-on-year), average (€187,201, up 17 per cent) and median (€125,000, up 16 per cent) over the three days of selling in Deauville.
The clearance rate also rose from 73 per cent in 2018 to 75 per cent.
