Quality Road and Candy Ride receive pay rises at Lane's End for 2020
Kentucky farm also announces future acquisition of Game Winner
Lane's End stallions Quality Road and Candy Ride will stand for increased fees in 2020, with Candy Ride reaching six figures for the first time in his stud career.
The Kentucky farm has also announced that two-year-old champion Game Winner, a son of Candy Ride, will join the roster in 2021.
"We are very excited to have the opportunity to stand Game Winner upon retirement in 2021," said Lane's End's Bill Farish. "Champion two-year-olds are hard to come by, and we're honoured that Gary and Mary West have entrusted Lane's End with his stallion career."
Game Winner will remain with trainer Bob Baffert and target a spring campaign.
"It's not easy to find good horses. It's even harder to find champions," Baffert said. "I've been fortunate to have a few good horses and even a few champions, but the champions really stick out.
Horses like Game Winner and American Pharoah - to do what they did and to be champion two-year-olds, they're the best of the best."
Quality Road, sire of 2019 Grade 1 winners Dunbar Road, Roadster, Bellafina and City Of Light, will stand for $200,000 next year, up from $150,000.
City of Light will stand his second year at Lane's End for $40,000.
Candy Ride will be increased to $100,000 from $80,000. His daughter Ollie's Candy collected her first Grade 1 this year, and Vekoma, Game Winner, and Separationofpowers were responsible for other Graded stakes wins in 2019.
As previously announced, Catalina Cruiser will join his sire, Union Rags, at Lane's End in 2020. A fee will be announced following his expected run in the Breeders' Cup Sprint at Santa Anita.
Catalina Cruiser has second preference in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile.
