The Big Breakaway, who was the €360,000 top lot at the Goffs Punchestown Sale in May, capped a big day for Getaway on Wednesday as one of four winners for the sire across Britain and Ireland.

The four-year-old gelding strolled to an eight-length win in the 2m3½f Spectra Group Maiden Hurdle at Chepstow, following on from the success of the year-older Getaway Fred in the 2m Fujitsu Novices' Hurdle earlier on the same card, with both sons of Getaway trained by Colin Tizzard.

"The Big Breakaway has excited us all the way through and has gone about that like a really nice horse, but we've got to remind ourselves he's only four," said assistant trainer Joe Tizzard.

"He's 17hh, so he's going to keep improving and we'll look for a race around Christmas. He's a lovely actioned horse and I'm sure he'll be better on better ground, but he can cope with that easy ground with his size and raw ability. He's not short of pace and works well at home.

"He's one of our nicest young horses and looks like he has a massive future - he's exciting, really exciting."

Bred by William Mangan, The Big Breakaway was purchased by Ross Doyle and Joe Tizzard at Punchestown after he had made a ten-length winning debut in a Quakerstown maiden in April for handler Donnchadh Doyle.

Getaway Fred, meanwhile, joined the Tizzard fold for £40,000 at the Tattersalls Cheltenham May Sale having won a five-year-old maiden at Dawstown by two lengths.

Bred by Tom Heaney of Aggard Farm out of a full-sister to African Gold, Getaway Fred subsequently finished second on his rules debut behind Hang In There, who won the Grade 2 Supreme Trial Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham on Sunday.

Joe Tizzard said: "Getaway Fred had his form franked big time at Cheltenham on Sunday and he's a nice horse who is going the right way.

"We haven't made a plan, but I imagine we'll give him a month and then look, but it could be a novice hurdle with a penalty."

Getaway enjoyed two further winners on Wednesday with the five-year-old mare Getaway Queen opening her account on the Dundalk all-weather and the six-year-old Winter Getaway landing a Warwick mares' novices' hurdle, to add to her previous wins in a Stratford maiden hurdle and points at Bartlemy and Liscarroll.

Getaway, a son of Monsun who retired to Grange Stud in 2011, won two Group 1s over 12 furlongs in his native Germany and stood the latest breeding season at a €7,500 fee.
