Prix Jean Romanet winner Grand Glory to be sold at Arqana's Breeding Stock Sale
The daughter of Olympic Glory was bred by Haras de Bourgeauville
Grand Glory, winner of this season's Prix Jean Romanet and a narrow second in the Prix de l'Opéra at Longchamp, will be offered for sale at Arqana's Breeding Stock Sale in early December.
Bred by Haras de Bourgeauville, the daughter of Olympic Glory won on her sole start at two before placing in Listed company on her first start at three and then notching a win before her gallant third behind Channel in the Prix de Diane.
A stakes winner on her first run at four and then second to Ambition in the Prix Corrida, the five-year-old won a deserved first Group race in the Prix de Flore that October, having also placed third in the Prix de Pomone in August.
Officially the highest rated mare in training, Grand Glory was second to Skalleti on her reappearance this term before another Group 3 strike in the Grand Prix de Vichy.
She sprung a surprise when outbattling previous winner and Breeders' Cup heroine Audarya in the Prix Jean Romanet in August but backed up that career-best effort when going down on her sword to Rougir on Arc day this month.
Grand Glory, who was an €18,000 private sale at Arqana's October Yearling Sale, is the fifth foal out of the Daylami mare Madonna Lily, a half-sister to Grade 2 Canadian Stakes scorer Minakshi. Grand Glory is in turn a half-sister to two minor winners.
She is one of six individual Group winners for Haras de Bouquetot resident Olympic Glory and one of two top-flight scorers alongside Coronation Stakes and Prix Rothschild heroine Watch Me.
Olympic Glory, a son of Choisir who stood the 2021 breeding season for a fee of €5,000, is also responsible for Solario Stakes winner Etonian, Grosser Preis der Mehl-Mulhens-Stiftung scorer Lucky Lycra plus American Graded winners Mintd and Quick.
Grand Glory will be offered for sale on Saturday, December 4 - the opening day of the sale. The catalogue will be available to view online from Tuesday, November 2.
