Pre-trained young National Hunt horses to come under the hammer in August
The Lumet Show, in partnership with Arqana, offers a rare opportunity
The Lumet Show, organised in partnership with David Lumet and Arqana, will take place on August 21, 2021 at Bécon-les-Granits, it was announced on Friday.
The sole event in Europe that provides an opportunity to buy pre-trained National Hunt two- and three-year-olds, this fourth edition will follow the same format as in previous years. The lots will be presented over jumps in the morning, before being sold in the afternoon.
The catalogue will be online at the beginning of July, which will be made up of around 60 lots from selected breeding establishments in the west of France, as well as the best French National Hunt nurseries. The colts, geldings and fillies will have been pre-trained in the three months before the sale.
Since its creation, the Lumet Show has produced numerous top performers on both sides of the Channel, including Ramses De Teilee, a Graded winner over hurdles in Britain last season, as well as 2018 graduate Gelboe De Chanay, who took the Prix Wild Monarch and won his latest start over hurdles at Newcastle at the beginning of the year.
In France, Highlands D'Allier won the Grand Steeple-Chase des 4 ans at Cagnes-sur-Mer in January by seven lengths, and most recently won over fences at Bordeaux. In addition, the promising Happy Roque won on her debut over hurdles at Cagnes-sur-Mer, while another graduate, Chudamani, won his latest start over fences at Auteuil.
David Lumet said: “I’m really happy to renew this partnership with Arqana for the fourth year running. The stables have been completely renovated, so everything will be even better!
"Last year, with the health crisis that we all know about, the Lumet Show was held at the end of August. The sale recorded very satisfactory results, with a 70 per cent clearance rate and the average up ten per cent.
"For the 2021 edition we decided to organise it once more at the end of August with the same format. We have kept this date for several reasons. First, spring is an important time for the growth of the horse, and giving them time in the paddock allows them to further develop physically and mentally after being broken.
"Second, the feedback from trainers has told us that is a good time, because it allows trainers to keep going with the horses straight after the show. Ingrandes and Hywell, that we sold last year, are the perfect examples.”
