Plenty for everyone as the BBAG October Mixed Sale comes under starter's orders
The two-day auction starts at 5pm local time on Friday at the BBAG sales complex
The BBAG October Mixed Sale offers plenty of variety to prospective buyers, as the name suggests, with the sale kicking off on Friday and offering lots ranging from yearlings by local and international-based sires to broodmares, foals and horses in training.
Taking place over two days, recent graduates of the BBAG sales ring include last year's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Torquator Tasso, now retired to Gestut Auenquelle; King George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes hero Novellist; German Oaks winner Miss Yoda and German Derby winner Isfahan.
Drafts from leading German operations such as Gestut Brummerhof, Gestut Etzean, Gestut Westerberg and Gestut Auenquelle will feature prominently, alongside offerings from the late Larissa Kneip's Haras de Saint Arnoult and Haras de Grandcamp.
Foals by sires such as Amaron, Counterattack, Kendargent, Lawman and Reliable Man will be sold, including Gestut Erftmuhle's Reliable Man filly (224) from the fabled family of African Rose, Native Trail and Helleborine, and Milan Mrda's Counterattack filly (225) out of the stakes-winning Bahri mare Antonym.
The rather larger yearling section includes horses by a variety of sires, including the sole lot by leading first-season sire Havana Grey. (67), consigned by Gestut Karlshof and named Three Havanas, who is related to two winners and from the family of Al Quoz Sprint scorer The Right Man.
Other young and exciting sires with lots catalogued include Churchill, Harry Angel, Ulysses, The Grey Gatsby and Waldgeist, while more proven and established stallions with yearlings include Oasis Dream, Bated Breath, the late Adlerflug, Sea The Moon and Soldier Hollow.
There are also a number of two and three-year-olds up for auction, including progeny by Kodiac, Lord Of England, Wootton Bassett and Iffraaj.
The broodmare section contains a number of well-related fillies and mares, with those included in foal to the likes of Belardo, Galiway, Isfahan, Japan, Kendargent, Lawman and Phoenix Of Spain.
The first day begins at 5pm local time on Friday, with lots 1-120 going under the hammer, while the second session starts at 9am the following day, lots 121-393.
