Platinum Star furthers family honours with Listed victory at Ripon
Two close relatives to the colt are slated for Tattersalls Book 1

Platinum Star added some more gloss to an already impressive page with his first stakes victory in the British Stallion Studs EBF Ripon Champion Two Yrs Old Trophy.
Godolphin’s colt was a 150,000gns purchase by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock from Corduff Stud at Book 2 of last year’s Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.
The son of Lope De Vega was particularly unfortunate to bump into another in Godolphin colours, the two-year-old division leader Pinatubo, on his debut at Wolverhampton in May but was swiftly off the mark at Leicester and earned his first black type when beaten by only Southern Hills in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Platinum Star went down to another Aidan O’Brien runner, Royal Lytham, in the July Stakes before being given a heavier beating by Pinatubo in the Vintage Stakes. A drop back in class to Listed level was just what the doctor ordered as the 6-4 favourite registered a comfortable length and a quarter win for Saeed Bin Suroor and Callum Shepherd.
The feats have earned Platinum Star’s dam an upgrade, as her latest Kingman foal is lot 88 at Book 1 this autumn. His Kodiac sister Tifosa, who sold for €150,000 at Goffs Orby in 2017, was a Listed winner in France, while Iffraaj colt Rifft was sold for 240,000gns to Hong Kong but has recently re-emerged with Lydia Richards.
Their value is not only from the use of lofty stallions by Corduff and partners. The mare, the unraced Toquette, is a half-sister to Prix Morny winner Arcano, while Corduff Stud are also consigning another Arcano sibling, a Dark Angel filly, at Book 1 (69).
