The Platinum Queen, second in both the Nunthorpe and Flying Childers Stakes, took brilliant advantage of her weight allowance to go one better in the Group 1 Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp for Richard Fahey and Middleham Park Racing.

In winning, she became the first Group 1 winner for her sire Cotai Glory, who stands at Tally-Ho Stud alongside The Platinum Queen's broodmare sire Kodiac.

Trained by Richard Fahey for Middleham Park Racing, The Platinum Queen is the latest Group 1 winner bred by the O'Callaghans of Tally-Ho Stud and Cotai Glory just the most recent of their sires to come up with a top-level winner.

The Platinum Queen is the first runner out of Thrilled who was placed on a number of occasions and is a Kodiac half-sister to Listed Boadicea Stakes third The Gold Cheongsam by Red Clubs. Second dam Fuerta Ventura was second in the Listed Premio Giovanni Falck and is a Desert Sun half-sister to Sir Xaar, winner of Ripon's Listed Two-Year-Old-Trophy winner and Mill Reef runner-up.

She was sold by her breeders for 57,000gns to Richard Fahey and Middleham Park at this year's Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-Up Sale.

Her sire is a son of Exceed And Excel and was a classy and precocious sprinter, winning the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes at two and looked certain to follow up with success in the Group 2 Flying Childers but for an unfortunate incident with his saddle when two lengths clear inside the final furlong.

At three he beat Kingsgate Native to win the Listed Scarbrough Stakes and was third in York's Listed City Walls Stakes, over five furlongs, for trainer Charlie Hills and owners Kangyu International Racing.

Kept in training as a four-year-old, he ran Profitable to a neck when second in the King's Stand at Royal Ascot and won the Group 3 Dubai International Airport World Trophy Stakes at Newbury.

The following season, his best result was third to Marsha and Lady Aurelia in Haydock's Sprint Cup. His defence of his Newbury Group 3 ended in second place to Take Cover and he was also third in the Grade 2 Nearctic Stakes over six furlongs on turf at Woodbine.

Out of the unraced Elusive Quality mare Continua, he was bred by Glebe Stud, J F Dean and Lady Trenchard and is a full-brother to the Listed St Hugh's Stakes second Excel's Beauty. He is also a half-brother to the Listed James Seymour Stakes winner Permission.

Continua is a full-sister to Huntdown, second in the Group 3 Criterion Stakes and third in the Middle Park Stakes. Their Raven's Pass three-parts sister Falling Petals is the dam of Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes and Prix Rothschild winner Saffron Beach, whose full-brother made €450,000 to Amanda Skiffington for Fiona Carmichael at last week's Goffs Orby Sale, sold by Ballylinch Stud.

Cotai Glory retired to Tally-Ho Stud in 2018 and from two crops of racing age had sired last season's Group 2 Prix Robert Papin and Group 3 Prix du Bois winner Atomic Force and the Group 3 Premio Primi Passi winner Bottle Of Bubbles, as well as the Listed winners Spirit And Glory and Puciaretta.
