Pinhookers upping their game in hunt for future breeze-up stars
James Thomas crunches the numbers at the Tattersalls Craven Sale
The European breeze-up season kicks off on Monday at the Tattersalls Craven Sale, with around 150 two-year-olds set to be put through their paces on the Rowley Mile before coming under the hammer at Park Paddocks over the two days that follow.
Some major talents have been sourced at the Craven Sale in previous years, with its roll call of Group/Grade 1-winning graduates including the likes of Brando, Donjuan Triumphant, La Pelosa, Rosdhu Queen and Ventura Storm.
It is also the sale from which Peter and Ross Doyle procured Mehmas for Richard Hannon and Al Shaqab Racing before the son of Acclamation won the July and Richmond Stakes, and later became a record-breaking sire of two-year-olds from his berth at Tally-Ho Stud.
