Peter Savill back in the swing at Chantilly through juvenile Dizzy Bizu
Well-known owner has increased his breeding presence in France
Some familiar colours received a winning airing at Chantilly on Tuesday as Peter Savill's Dizzy Bizu showed a willing attitude to get off the mark on her first start in the five-furlong Prix de la Mere Marie.
It will be 26 years next month since the owner's greatest horse, Celtic Swing, landed the Prix du Jockey Club under Kevin Darley and Stephane Wattel, the trainer of Dizzy Bizu, explained that he is likely to have plenty more French runners in future.
Coincidentally, it was exactly four years to the day since the winner's dam, Izzy Bizu, made a successful racecourse debut at Catterick. The Kodiac filly went on to claim Listed honours at Deauville in a sole season racing with Mark Johnston.
Her first foal was a fourth European winner for Coolmore's first-season Caravaggio as she just retained her lead by the line from the strong-challenging Hopeful Melody, Eoghan O'Neill's Havana Gold filly.
"She has shown a lot of speed in the mornings and we have a great asset with the straight at Deauville racecourse to train these young horses. It is a big advantage," Wattel said.
"I have trained for Peter Savill for about 15 years and he's an owner who is very well known in the English-speaking world. He has relaunched a part of his breeding operation in France at the Haras du Logis Saint-Germain. It’s wonderful to have a breeder like him working in France.
"The race programme is there as are the premiums and I am very happy to see an owner-breeder like him embark on a French adventure."
