Pearl Secret up and running with first winner at Musselburgh
Son Disco Beats was in the groove at the third attempt
Disco Beats was an appropriate first winner in Pearl Secret's stallion career as John Dance's home-bred obliged in his silks at Musselburgh.
Dance was a significant investor in the powerful chestnut, who stands at Chapel Stud in Worcestershire for £4,000. The son of Compton Place, from the family of Dutch Art, claimed his finest hour for David Barron in the 2015 Temple Stakes at Haydock.
Pearl Secret has 43 juveniles to represent him this year and Disco Beats had looked the best of seven to have appeared already. Third on debut at Pontefract and with another race for experience, he made no mistake at the third attempt to take the British Stallion Studs EBF Median Auction Maiden Stakes comfortably as a 6-5 favourite.
Disco Beats is the first foal of Indigo Beat, a maiden in Dance's colours but who is from the family of smart juvenile Green Perfume.
Pearl Secret is among the lower-priced stallion at present but there was some enthusiasm in the ring for his yearlings last year, one of which made 55,000gns.
