Owner and breeder of Henry VIII Chase winner get free nomination to Planteur

The owner and breeder of the winner of the Grade 1 Planteur at Chapel Stud Henry VIII Novices' Chase at Sandown on Saturday will receive a free nomination to send a mare to Planteur as part of their prize.

Planteur was recently relocated from France to stand at Chapel Stud in Worcestershire at a fee of £3,000.

Planteur’s owner Simon Davies is a huge supporter of the British breeding industry and was delighted to present the same prize to the owners and breeder of Ramses De Teillee following his victory in the Grade 3 handicap chase sponsored in Planteur's name at Cheltenham last month.

Davies said: “The aim is to get more high-quality National Hunt stallions standing in Britain and Planteur definitely meets that criteria, and has lots of exciting progeny coming through.

"By providing quality, hopefully it will encourage small and large breeders to utilise GB-suffixed stallions and take advantage of the enhanced Great British Bonus scheme.”

Winner of the Group 1 Prix Ganay for Elie Lellouche and the Group 3 Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor for Marco Botti following his switch to Britain, Planteur is the highest-earning son of Danehill Dancer.

In his second career, he has been represented by several stakes performers on the Flat, including Trueshan, impressive winner of the Group 2 British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot in October.

In addition, he is starting to make his mark as a jumps sire, with Henry Brulard this year winning a Listed handicap hurdle in France and Nebuchadnezzar the Silver Cup Handicap Hurdle at Fakenham. He also boasts an impressive winners-to-runners ratio of 52 per cent.
