Brian O'Neill of Woodford Stud in County Cork is the proud breeder of a "smashing filly" from the first crop of Highland Reel, born on January 21.

The filly is one of the first foals by the seven-time Group 1 winner and is out of the Danehill Dancer mare Just Wondering, meaning she is bred on a variation of the ultra successful formula of Galileo over Danehill-line mares, which has produced such stars as Frankel, Minding and The Gurkha. She is also inbred 3x3 to Danehill, with Highland Reel being out of the Danehill mare Hveger.

The new arrival also hails from the further family of multiple Group 1 winners US Navy Flag, Roly Poly and Misty For Me, while Just Wondering's first runner Imaginative, a son of Camelot, won a Pontefract maiden last year.

Highland Reel won the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at two before becoming a globetrotting superstar, winning top-flight races in Britain, Hong Kong and the US.

The son of Galileo stands at Coolmore Stud for €17,500, and Just Wondering will return to him this season.
