David Brace, who secured another notable success when Paint The Dream carried his colours home in Newbury's BetVictor Greatwood Gold Cup in the hands of his grandson Connor, was also celebrating a decent few days with his equine family.

The owner of Dunraven Stud, which took on the top-class stayer Leading Light to stand for this year, bred the useful eight-year-old out of Vineuil, a daughter of Muhtathir who won over hurdles in France.

She was a half-sister to Graded French chase winner Drole De Drame, from a line developed by the Collet family.

"The dam, who we bought when she became available, sadly passed away but we’ve got a sister that never raced by Martaline called Lady Veronica, who we're breeding from, so hopefully there'll be another few days," Brace said after watching the horse power 15 lengths clear in the feature race.

"Lady Veronica was the first foal, Paint The Dream was the second, and the other was a horse called Gats And Co who won last Saturday at Chepstow."

Brace added that "the phone has been very busy" for Leading Light, who was introduced at £2,500 after moving from Grange Stud in Ireland.

"It's exciting," he said. "We’ve got half a dozen broodmares ourselves and we’ve got Leading Light. We’ve upgraded the mares a fair bit and have two due to foal any time by Nathaniel."

There was another interesting result at the end of the card when Weveallbeencaught, a sizeable son of Getaway who topped the Tattersalls Cheltenham January Sale, made a winning debut under rules in the ITM-sponsored bumper.

Part-owner Jimmy Wenman bought the Irish point scorer for £210,000 with dreams of future Cheltenham success. Now with Nigel Twiston-Davies, he gave plenty of encouragement when outpointing the favourite and £115,000 Cheltenham December purchase Collectors Item by half a length.
