There will be few bigger ticket items even in a collection as expansive as trainer John Gosden’s than a filly out of a European Classic winner and sired by a global giant.

Her name is Star Spirit and she is the first foal bred by Lady Bamford from Star Of Seville, who claimed the French Oaks in 2015 as well as the Musidora Stakes at York.

The two-year-old will make her racecourse debut on Tuesday in the Equine Productions EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Newbury, the same track her mother scored at on her three-year-old reappearance four years ago.

Star Of Seville, by Duke Of Marmalade, was sent to Japan for her maiden cover by the nation’s multiple champion stallion Deep Impact.

The Shadai Stallion Station resident, whose current fee is set at ¥40,000,000 (£292,500), is being rested for the rest of this year and his offspring are not seen with regularity on these shores owing to the distance and his domestic demand.

Deep Impact has actually had only 20 runners in Britain before, eight of them winning, and managed two major European Classic winners last season through Saxon Warrior in the 2,000 Guineas and Study Of Man in the French Derby.

It would be something of a disappointment if Rab Havlin’s mount were not to show up well in the seven-furlong event, even if there is another newcomer with an equally illustrious pedigree in opposition.

Jacqueline Quest, who lost the 2010 1,000 Guineas in poignant fashion for former owner Noel Martin, has made a good start to life as a broodmare with her fourth foal being Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Line Of Duty.

He was by Galileo and Christopher Hanbury’s Triermore Stud switched to Dubawi for resulting filly Onassis. Triermore now owns the two-year-old in partnership with Peter Stanley and have sent her to trainer Charlie Fellowes after the filly fetched a winning bid of 200,000gns from Jamie McCalmont at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.
