New record price set for Auctav as Diamond Carl makes €210,000

Diamond Carl set a new record when making €210,000 in a flash sale on Auctav's online platform on Friday night.-The three-year-old son of Diamond Boy won on debut at Compiegne for Francois Nicolle and was second in the Grade 3 Prix General de Saint Didier at the same course.

Xavier Papot, owner of the recent Grade 1 Grand Prix d'Automne winner Galop Marin, was the successful bidder at the end of the hour-long auction and he is set to campaign the gelding in Graded company for the rest of the season.

A last second bid sent the sale of Transatlantic into extra time and Nicolas Bertran de Balanda came out on top of the frenzied finish to the virtual auction.

Transatlantic will be crossing the English Channel as Bertran de Balanda confirmed that the four-year-old had been purchased as a dual-purpose prospect.

"He is a beautiful horse: he is as interesting on the Flat as he is over jumps. He will leave for England where his status as a maiden over jumps is a huge advantage for the choice of entries," he remarked of his €58,000 purchase.

The four-year-old Le Havre gelding is a winner on the Flat and was second in the Listed Prix Finot at Auteuil for his Australian-based owner Jean-Etienne Dubois.

Arnaud Angeliaume, Auctav's managing director, expressed his happiness at the record price achieved in only the fifth flash sale held by the company.

“As the Parisian jumps season comes to a conclusion, we were delighted to be able to offer three such quality lots in this Flash Sale.

"For the first time, we have witnessed a sale over €200,000 to a wonderful racing French family. We are very satisfied and I thank the buyers and sellers who have placed their trust in us.”

Auctav's next flash sale is scheduled for next Friday, December 10.
