Muhaarar heading to Haras des Faunes for 2022 season
Shadwell stallion dominated the sprint division in 2015
Shadwell stallion Muhaarar, who recently clinched his first Group 1 with a one-two from Eshaada and Albaflora in the British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes, is heading to Haras des Faunes near Bordeaux for the 2022 season.
The champion sprinter, who was bred by the late Hamdan Al Maktoum's empire, has spent the last six seasons at his Nunnery Stud.
Shadwell is understandably in a state of flux after the death of its founder in March, with a considerable number of its stock being offered through various sales. However, Muhaarar is understood to be remaining under its ownership.
The son of Oasis Dream entered stud at a fee of £30,000 and his first progeny arrived with a great deal of anticipation, having traded for as much as 925,000gns in the ring. He won four consecutive Group 1s in 2015, including the Commonwealth and July Cups.
Results have not quite translated so far, although he has had more than 120 winners from his first three crops to have raced, including six at stakes level.
The deal, which was brokered by Richard Venn, sees Muhaarar join the likes of Gutaifan and Born To Sea at Alain Chopard's stud. He is expected to be introduced at €5,000.
