Modern Ideals is proving herself to be one of the broodmares of the year with Godolphin's daughter of New Approach now responsible for three black-type winners in 2022.

It was in May that she truly hit the headlines as her trio of foals all hit the target within a week, the star among them being Modern Games, who added the Emirates Poule d'Essai des Poulains to last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf title.

Mawj, who on Friday hung on after a lengthy stewards' inquiry to the Group 2 Duchess of Cambridge Stakes, had just broken her duck at the first attempt in a Newmarket maiden at that stage.

The diminutive Exceed And Excel juvenile was to run a cracker in finishing second in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot prior to her front-running defeat of 15-8 favourite Lezoo for Saeed bin Suroor and jockey Ray Dawson at the July course.

Modern Ideals, a twice-raced maiden for Andre Fabre, was also bred by Sheikh Mohammed's operation and is a half-sister to French champion juvenile and now Haras du Logis stallion Ultra.

She has produced Listed Windsor Stakes winner Modern News, a leading candidate for Saturday's Summer Mile at Ascot, while Modern Games is declared for Sunday's Prix Jean Prat, leaving the possibility that she could yet have Group winners on three consecutive days.

Further down the line, Modern Ideals has a yearling filly by the late Mastercraftsman.
