Miss Carmie's stakes-winning relations justify early Juddmonte support

Bonny South and Lemista are recent examples of how the family continues to shine

Much of Juddmonte’s success continues to stem from those early purchases made as the operation was finding its feet. A number of those mares turned out to be the bedrocks of identifiable Juddmonte lines and, in that respect, those forays into the Miss Carmie family were no different, with it yielding the likes of Special Duty, Sightseek, Tates Creek and Expert Eye.

Sadly, the chances of this year’s Classic crop gaining a traditional exposure on the track are fast diminishing. However, before Fair Grounds in Louisiana brought a premature halt to its current meeting, there was at least evidence that the family had once again come up trumps for Juddmonte in the form of Munnings filly Bonny South, winner of the Grade 2 Fair Grounds Oaks on Saturday.

With a two-and-a-quarter-length victory, Bonny South moved smoothly into the picture for the Kentucky Oaks, now tentatively scheduled to take place at Churchill Downs on September 4.
